Hands-on class blending fabric techniques—no batting, no quilting—just gorgeous drape.
This jacket is made using a simple “recipe” for blending colors, print sizes, and sewing techniques to create texture, movement, and color play across the surface of your garment by manipulating flat pieces of fabric into three-dimensional form. Because there is no batting or quilting, the garment sections drape attractively; and create a jacket that is easy to wear. Each 3-hour class features one of the fabric techniques.
Students explore new techniques to develop innovative uses for classic quilting designs and materials they can use to create art, to make unique pillows, purses, or garments.
Fabric, color, and pattern combinations; how to use gathering, pintucks, embellishable wrinkles, ribbon tucks, a pieced fan, and piecing for the front lower jacket and collar—techniques that build the garment’s distinct texture and flow.
